Artist's Note — Halfway to Nowhere.
This piece marks the beginning of something deeply personal. Halfway to Nowhere is the first in a series born from the quiet universe I return to again and again—a vast, ambiguous space where form emerges from absence.
I’ve always been drawn to minimalism, not for its simplicity, but for its honesty. Here, a single figure floats in silence. There’s no context, no direction, just presence. The scene offers no clear story, and that’s intentional. I find beauty in the ambiguity, in the way viewers bring their own meanings to the moment.
The subject was rendered with painstaking attention to detail. Though the environment is sparse, the figure holds all the emotional weight. I spent hours shaping light, skin, and shadow to feel both real and fragile. This tension between realism and emptiness, clarity and unknown, is where I find resonance.
This isn’t just an artwork to me. It’s the first echo of a voice I’ve been learning to trust. One that doesn’t need to explain itself. One that simply is.
